Shepherd's Pie is a warm and comforting dish made up of 2 layers. The top layer is usually mashed potatoes and the bottom layer is made of minced lamb. This pie is then baked in an oven until the mashed potato on top is golden and the minced lamb is bubbling. It is usually served with garden peas.It is said that Shepherd's Pie gets its name from the minced lamb used on the bottom layer, since Shepherds look after sheep.Minced lamb is an important ingredient in this dish. If beef is used instead of lamb, it is then known as a ‘Cottage pie’ and not a Shepherd's pie. Fun fact: in some places, the meat-free version of this pie is called a ‘shepherdless’ pie😄...#britishfood #foodie #instafood #food #foodporn #englishfood #foodphotography #foodstagram #foodblogger #homecooking #londonfood #british #foodlover #ukfoodie #ukfood #chef #homemade #fishandchips #comfortfood #delicious #london #yummy #supportlocal #uk #restaurant #tasty #breakfast #england #chips #baking ... A QUARTER OF A CENTURY TOGETHER, Hiroo and Hareesh! No small feat that one but anyone who has met you both together can see how easy you make it look🥂If you have been following my journey for a while then you will most definitely come across a story of these two incredible people. A home filled with beautiful art and antiques from around the world, they have been featured in plenty of magazines. But what makes their home extra special is the warmth and hospitality that it exudes. Not to mention that they are fantastic hosts over and above that! This time, along with friends from their wine club, they decided to host a dinner which had dishes from across the world. The catch…each course needed to be paired with the perfect wine! Now the guests who were to be present for this celebration had immense knowledge about wine…so we REALLY had to do our homework to make sure that we found the most perfect pairings with the dishes we prepared. What we came up with even impressed us a lil bit, i must admit😄Appetizers during Champagne Hour: * Parmesan Arancini with aged parmesan and tomato caper Sauce* Mini Scallop Gratin * Cheese & fruit platters Main course: * Lobster Bisque with. Butter Poached Lobster Meat* Golden and Ruby Beet Salad Alsace with toasted Shallots and Parmesan Crisp* Alaskan Salmon en Papillote with lemon, capers and tomatoes* Saffron Mushroom Risotto with Jumbo Shrimp* Smoked Duck Cannelloni with Brown Butter and Sage* Kahlua and Chocolate Hot Pots with Fresh RaspberriesI’ll admit we were on pins before we started the event…but looking at the guests enjoying the food AND wine told us that we made the right choices!👏🏽Thank you Hiroo and Hareesh for having us. It is such a joy to do this with you both, every single time.Thank you Bree for all you help💫And once again, Happy 25th anniversary Hiroo and Hareesh! You guys are absolutely perfect 🥂🥂🥂 ... There are a few thing i love when it comes to food; - Tradition meeting modern- Spontaneity- Surprising elements- Mind blowing flavourSo imagine my absolute delight when I found myself in the middle of New York at a place that checked ALL the boxes! I was like a kid in a candy store, I tell you! If you ever find yourself in New York, Sushi Lab HAS to be on your list. A wonderful roof top restaurant in midtown, sushi lab offers an omakase experience that melds traditional japanese with a modern flair. Also an amazing variety of sake to pair perfectly with your meal. As you know, Omakase is a Japanese dining experience where you leave it up to the Chef to decide what they want to serve you depending on the seasonal ingredients and specialities. So when I walked in and decided on a 14 course omakase experience, what followed was not even close to what I could have imagined. The chef was flawless and my journey with him began from the lightest to the heaviest of fares. Every dish palace before me was a flavour bomb. The pick of ingredients and freshness was something to write home about. But to me the highlight of it all was the pure mastery that the chef held while creating these dishes. Watching him work was like having a front seat to a phenomenal artistic performance. The handling of the ingredient, the precision, the presentation…all a work of art!Seated there at the sushi counter of this beautiful roof terrace restaurant as I watched him create, I couldn't help but reminisce about my journey as a chef. Especially that moment when you realize that you have finally managed to master your craft. At that moment, cooking becomes less a task and more of a moment. I admit , there are some days when I create and that old feeling comes rushing back. Times like this…while sitting across from a food artist creating something so beautiful…I am thankful for the journey that led me to be a chef today. Kanpai! 🍶🍶🍶 ... See MoreSee Less

Brit’s do seem to have a wicked sense of humour when it comes to naming their dishes. This dish , for instance, is called ‘Toad in a hole’. And no, this dish does not contain any toads—only sausages! Originally referred to as something like "meat boiled in a crust," toad in the hole is simply meat cooked within a batter pudding, making it a delightful main course. It is usually served with gravy and veggies. The name may refer to how toads wait in their holes for prey, with only their heads showing—much like the meat that rises above the batter!😄😄😄Fun fact: Historically, it was Steak that strutted its stuff in ‘Toad in The Hole’ and not those cheeky sausages that we see today!...#britishfood #foodie #instafood #food #foodporn #englishfood #foodphotography #foodstagram #foodblogger #homecooking #londonfood #british #foodlover #ukfoodie #ukfood #chef #homemade #fishandchips #comfortfood #delicious #london #yummy #supportlocal #uk #restaurant #tasty #breakfast #england #chips #baking ... There is a certain joy I feel whenever I find out that we have a new client because of a recommendation of an older client. It feels like an affirmation for what we do at Food Raconteur, every single time. So when Kyle Foppe called us and told us that we were highly recommended by Stephen & Tara Schultz, another absolutely wonderful couple, and that he would like us to help him host a special birthday dinner for his beautiful wife, the joy I mentioned just swooped back in. An absolutely beautiful family, Kyle and Megan welcomed us into their home on a picture perfect snowy day.We knew we wanted to make this dinner special for Megan even before meeting her. And after meeting her in person we were convinced that someone as lovely as her absolutely deserved it. Our menu for this special lady’s big day was made up of;* Pappa Al Pomodoro Soup* Butternut Squash Risotto With Shaved Pecorino And Green Apple* Pan Seared Chicken With Roasted Potatoes, Olives And Jus* Vanilla Pannacotta With Aged Cocoa NibsDinner was a hit as told by the empty plates and big smiles. And we didn't come out of it empty handed either. Megan was an angel and even shared with us her recipe for an absolutely divine chocolate martini! Thank you so much for that Megan!Thank you Kyle for having us and after meeting your family we get why you were so insistent on it being PERFECT😄😄😄And a special thank you to my rockstar, Bree, for braving the snow and slippery roads and making it 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Now that's what I call COMMITMENT! ... Nothing oozes power like a room filled with strong, successful women celebrating each other. The aura a place like that holds is unbelievable. One that never fails to fill me with absolute awe. Through Airbnb experiences, Christina and her wonderful friends decided to have a dinner experience with us to celebrate the holidays. They were very clear that they wanted an elegantly classic menu and we knew just what would hit all the right notes. We derived a beautiful menu that celebrated the absolute queens that they are which was made up of; * Lobster bisque with butter poached lobster* Classic French salad with beets, shaved gruyere cheese, champagne dressing* Jumbo Shrimps with shallot cream sauce * Seared Scallops with truffle cream sauce * Filet Mignon with glazed carrots, white asparagus and wine reduction sauce* Pots de creme tart with berries Dinner turned out to be quite the success. They absolutely loved the food and the fact that we regaled them with fun travel stories helped quite a bit too😄They promised us to come back for more some day and that to us was high praise! Thank you for having us Christine! We can’t wait to have all of you guys back soon! Also a big thank you to my amazing teammate, Emilee! ... See MoreSee Less

On my recent trip to India, I had the pleasure of visiting Rameshwar cafe in Bangalore.I decided to do a little homework before I visited, just so I could understand the vibe of the place. While the internet seemed polarized in their opinions about the place ( they either absolutely loved it or they thought it was overhyped) one thing that stood out was, like it or not, they were talked about. That always gets me curious since I believe in judging for myself😄'The Rameshwaram Café' is a premium pure vegetarian South Indian Chain. Their aim is to provide people with the most authentic flavour experience when it comes to South Indian food. Boasting a very simple menu of Idly, Dosa,Vada and Upma, it is the consistent taste and quality they provide that makes them solid. I understand why their hype people are such strong believers. The idly’s were fluffy, the sambar made me think of Chennai while I sat in Bangalore, the upma was devoured even before I had the chance to notice its presence😄😄 Not to mention the VERY GENEROUS mounts of ghee that they offer. Maybe not the best everyday meal for the health conscious but for me it was an absolute treat! But what they got down to perfection is that they managed to create a place for people to religiously come together and enjoy a quick meal and coffee as they talked about life. It is not just the food that makes Rameshwar cafe a special place…it is also a place where stories come to life. And that, I think, is what makes it so special. ...#foodtravel #food #foodie #foodporn #foodblogger #foodstagram #foodphotography #foodlover #instafood #travel #foodtraveller #foodgasm #foodtour #foodblog #delicious #foodpics #foodies #foods #yummy #travelfood #foodtrip #foodlovers #streetfood #travelblogger #foodpic #restaurant #thought #foodblogging #rameshwaramcafe#bengaluru ... When one mentions the idea of a hearty meal, a good old British Sunday Roast hits just the right spot. Usually made up of beef ( though chicken, pork and lamb are acceptable too) which is roasted with potatoes in an oven. This dish is served up with vegetables such as carrots, parsnips or tenderstem broccoli, and a type of baked pudding called Yorkshire Pudding.Lest we forget…GRAVY! No Sunday roast would be complete without a generous serving of gravy. This dish is typically served on Sundays, hence the name ‘Sunday Roast’. It is said almost every pub in the UK has a good sunday roast on their menu every sunday where friends and families still get together to celebrate this age old tradition. Fun fact: The British affection for Sunday roast is believed to have originated during the reign of Henry VII. Legend has it that he enjoyed roast beef every Sunday and shared it with his guards. This tradition is said to be the source of the term 'beefeaters,' which refers to the guards at the Tower of London😆...#britishfood #foodie #instafood #food #foodporn #englishfood #foodphotography #foodstagram #foodblogger #homecooking #londonfood #british #foodlover #ukfoodie #ukfood #chef #homemade #fishandchips #comfortfood #delicious #london #yummy #supportlocal #uk #restaurant #tasty #breakfast #england #chips #baking ...
